Postcard Poem Rules

Date August 3, 2006

Such as they are… rules are made to be broken…

  1. First draft, best draft… in pen, directly on the postcard, on-the-spot corrections allowed but no rewrites
  2. Any kind of less-than-letter-sized format is fine: correspondence cards, greeting cards, honest-to-god postcards
  3. Subject may or may not have anything to do with pictures or art, if any, on the postcards
  4. Blank cards decorated with your art, doodles, or what have you (no matter how artistically challenged you are) are encouraged
  5. Mail it to someone!

The rule of all rules: only the first and last of the five rules are really important…

That sounds great… but does it have to be a ‘poem’… as i don’t write poetry… but have thought i’d write and send… or quotes that i enjoy… I’d like to see more on this topic.

I think any kind of writing works… the point is the drafting and then the commitment of sending it away…
